music heals the tears

Yesterday Peyton was crying about something as Tyler and I were leading her up to the van to go grocery shopping. We started driving and we were listening to Christmas music for a few minutes when Peyton said, "That music made my tears feel better!"

Dinner, yeah right.

A few days ago Peyton and I were driving home from Joanne's Fabric Store. I had bought her a treat (Jelly Bellies) which she was eating in the van. She said, with a smile on her face, "This is sure a good dinner Mom." What a jokester!

Mean brothers

Peyton just asked me (Daddy) for help finding one of her brothers' Lego toys to play with. I didn't know what exactly she wanted, so I told her to ask her brothers for help- to which she emphatically replied, "I can't ask them for help, my brothers are mean!" For the record, her brothers are very good about helping her with anything but playing with their Legos.

Blessings

Week before last Tyler came home for lunch. Peyton said her first prayer without help, it was beautiful. In it she said, "Bless our blessings to bless us." I thought it was so cute, so did her daaddy.

really dumb new style

A week or so ago Micah came home from school saying there was a new style. He saw a guy walking that had his pants pulled way down. I said something like, "Yeah, I've seen that, we don't wear our pants like that." Micah said, "I don't want to, it looks REALLY dumb."

a chicken?

Micah was going to the bathroom and yelling out jokes he was making up to us. One joke was, "What is a horses best friend?" Kelly said, "His neigh-h-h-h-bor." Micah said, "You're right!" After a bit of a delay Ben said, "I was going to say a chicken." We all laughed at that.

She got our hopes up, briefly.

After only 3 hours of sleep I was awakened at 5am by Jacob. He was crying because he had discovered the top of the snakes tank had caved in on one corner and the snake was gone. When Peyton woke up later and learned what had happened she told us, "I know where Porter is, he's lost!"

Mom was done but the fit wasn't.

I was trying to get Peyton's hair done but she was tired and really throwing a fit. I finally gave up but she continued to scream and cry and even flail on the floor. Micah said, "Peyton, Mommy is done." Peyton promptly screeched back, "I know, I'm not!"

It would be awesome, no more seat covers, just imagine.

Ben called me into the bathroom to tell me, "That would be awesome if girls still didn't have penises but they could stand up to pee and it would go straight into the toilet."

It made my day too!

I was making Peyton's bed when Jacob came into her room and said, "Guess what?! Peyton just came into me in the kitchen and was standing right in front of me and gave me a big hug!" I said, "Oh, did that feel nice?" He said, "It made my day. It was warm and cute."

tiss me, tiss you

Peyton came into our room this morning with a snotty face and said, "Tiss me." I replied, "Kiss you?" She repeated, "tiss me" and then promptly corrected herself and said, (tissue) She wanted me to clean her nose with a tissue!

can't you see that I'm singing here?

Earlier this morning on our walk I was trying to get Peyton to look up at me from her stroller and I kept calling her name. She finally, very testily said to me, "Singing!" I guess she was annoyed with me for interrupting her song.

quarter, penny, what's the difference?

I was taking Tyler's chest measurements so he could order a shoulder brase and Ben wanted Tyler to measure his pinkie afterward. Ben ran into the living room to me and Morgan and said, "Daddy said my pinkie is one and a penny!" Tyler called out from our room, "No, one and a quarter!" Ben said, "Oh yeah, one and a quarter."
