Back in the olden days

This morning Tyler and I were having a talk with Jacob.  He was telling us that the kids at school make fun of him because he isn't allowed to play Call of Duty ( a very violent video game, also with bad language).  We were telling him why we didn't allow it and giving him ideas of things he could say to the kids at school.  He said, "Kids just aren't the same as they were back in the 1900's when you were growing up."

You must be blind....

While we were eating dinner Peyton was saying something and the boys corrected her and she insisted she had said it differently than she had.  She got upset and yelled, "You guys must be blind then!"  After we all laughed for a bit Tyler said to her, "You mean Deaf?"  She agreed.

She's really pretty...and she knows it.

Earlier today Peyton's brothers all left and she wanted me to walk down to the Dockstader's with her so she could play with Emma (her friend).  I have been in my pajamas all day sewing and I didn't want to walk down there like this and I didn't want to change or get ready.  Peyton said she couldn't walk down there by herself because she was afraid someone would take her.  I said that she'd be fine and no one would take her.  She very loudly replied, "But I'm REALLY pretty!"  To give her some credit though, it isn't because she's super vain, it's because I have told her many times that she needs to stay with me when we go places because she's a pretty little girl and someone might want to take her.

Everything I need to know I learned in Primary

Ben and Peyton were having a little argument about a computer game and Ben said "Someone needs to teach Peyton to share and not lie."  Peyton quickly yelled back, "No I already learned that in Primary!"

Sore Throat

Just now while we were having Family Home Evening, Tyler was reading a story about a kid who's mother told him to ask kids to stop using bad language.  Micah said,  "I would have a sore throat by the end of the day if I did that."  I guess language at his Jr. High school is pretty bad.

A good command of the language even if she doesn't know what it means.

I made homemade caramels today, it's become a fall tradition.  Peyton got to help me and was very excited about that.  When the caramels were all done and I was sitting at the table wrapping them she came in and said very sweetly to me, "Mom, I sure do appreciate you doing all this."  It melted my heart.  She quietly walked out after I told her I was glad to do it and I loved her.  She promptly walked back in and said, "What does appreciate mean?"

FACT

On our way home from Tyler's Parents house the kids got to talking about pulled pork sandwiches.  Micah was making fun of Jacob for not liking them.  Then, Micah says, "It's a fact that pulled pork sandwiches are good, it's just Jacob's opinion that they're not."

Resurrected Rats

While driving home from getting rats for our snake Verdi, Peyton asked me if we could get frozen Yogurt at Mickey's.  We were on our free yogurt so I told her I could get one but that we'd have to take it home since we had the frozen rats in the car.  She said, "Oh yeah, we need to hurry up and get them home before they get resurrected."

Talk, talk, talk

Last night while I was laying with Peyton after I had read her some stories she was feeling rather talkative.  I asked her if she was almost done because I was getting tired.  She said, "You can just go to sleep while I talk to you."  She continued talking for a while longer and then said, "We can just finish talking tomorrow right?"

Toothbrushes for Hobo's

Today after Peyton had been quietly contemplating something for a while she said, "When I grow up I want to collect toothbrushes.  You know why?  So I could give them to hobo's, would that be nice?"
