The Luv Cub

Jacob was getting dressed for church with his Luv Cub (toy bear that whines for hugs and food, etc.) next to him.  I (Tyler) walked in the room and he said, "This Luv Cub keeps bothering me!"  He keeps on asking for hugs and stuff while I'm trying to get dressed."  I quickly pointed out that he should now know how a parent feels.

Drunk

December 10, 2006

We were driving to Nana Byn and Papa Ron's house for Sunday dinner and the boys were watching the Book of Mormon DVD in the van. The story about the Nephites escaping the Drunken Lamanites was on and Micah asked what "drunk" meant. I told him that when people drink alcohol they can get drunk and it makes them act stupid and do weird things. He was quiet for a while and then asked if Adam (Aunt Lindsay's boyfriend at the time) drank alcohol. I said, "Yes." and Micah asked, " Is that why Adam did all those big splashes in the pool." Jacob then asked why Aunt Lindsay brings Adam with her evrywhere. Micah said, "She doesn't." That was the end of that conversation.

The many uses of hot water.

November 29, 2006

Micah got out of bed and went to the bathroom. I followed him in to see what he was up to. Before I had a chance to ask he said, "I'm just going to melt the crust off my nose..." I had raised eyebrows, so he continued, "you know, with hot water."

Engineer Dad

Wednesday, November 8, 2006

I'm really sick right now, strep throat again. I always seem to get that, I think it may be time to have my tonsils removed. Tyler took work off to take care of the boys and Lilly so I could take care of myself. I even got to take a nap. I kept waking up because I heard sawing, I was also worried that Ty would forget to pick Micah up from school, anyway, the sawing was Tyler and Jacob cutting up this huge box that our water storage container came in (trying to build up our emergency preparedness and food storage). So, they made this really cool fort type thing. It has 2 chimmneys, a door on one side and windows on all sides, but here is how he did better than I would have, he rigged it so that you can open the windows from inside the box by pulling 3 different pieces of twine. The windows can all close too. So, that's an engineer for you! When Micah got home from school, yes, Tyler did manage to get him on time, why I worry, I don't know. Sometimes I mistakingly think that I'm the only one that can handle things properly when it comes to the kids and the house. So, Micah comes home and is really excited about the box and going on and on about how cool it is, awesome, to be exact. It was really cute to hear the excitement in his voice. I love when they get to do cool stuff with their dad, I wish he could stay home too, sniff sniff.

Geoffery the giraff

November 4, 2006

Micah's 6th birthday

Several people called to let us know they would be coming to Micah's birthday party. He also got a recorded message from Geoffery the Toys R Us giraff. Micah said, "Everyone is calling today, even Geoffery the giraff called!" Then Jacob said, "Maybe he's coming to your party."

Micah's 1st day of school

When I picked him up he said, "I can't wait to go again tomorrow!"  He told me about getting cards pulled if you are bad.  They had a party with punch and cupcakes and Micah had a punch mustache.

Industrial sized Soft Soap

Tuesday, August 15, 2006

Last night my grandpa was over for dinner. The usual chaos was going on. I was trying to entertain my grandpa and was letting Ben wander. Ben is 14 months and he is a very curious baby, like most his age. He was gone for just a few minutes and came back into the living room with some unknown substance on his hands. I walked to the back of the house and found, in my bathroom, a pretty big mess. I then notice our industrial size bottle of softsoap from Costco laying on its side, just about empty, on my bathroom carpet. I used a cup to scoop as much of the soap up as I could and then I got out the wet/dry vac. I had to add a little water to get the soap out. Do you know how much suds started shooting out of the vacuum? I didn't take a picture even though the camera was sitting on the counter right by me, I think I was too shocked to function at anthing other than cleaning up the mess.

Orange Slices and Ants

August 2006

Jacob wanted some candy from Papa Louie's candy dish and Nana Paula offered it to him. They were all the same, individually wrapped orange slices. Jacob was taking a long time picking one out, which puzzled Nana, being that they were all the same. Nana said, "Jacob, what's wrong? Why are you taking so long?" or something to that effect. Jacob replied, "Oh, I'm just trying to find one without ants." Nana didn't have her glasses on so she didn't see that a bunch of ants had gotten into the candy! Jacob was very calm when he answered Nana, like nothing was out of the ordinary, he just preferred a piece without ants in it!

Alma the Younger

March 11, 2006

When Micah was taking a bath I asked him what he thought we should name our next baby if it was a boy. He said, "I think we should name him Alma the Younger because he was really good. He started out bad but became good, right? We'll just call him Alma."
