Running With Scissors

Peyton was putting the silverware away from the dishwasher today.  She had it all done except for the knives when she told me that she had done everything that she could do.  I told her that I thought she could handle putting the knives away.  She said, "But Mom, they're the sharp ones!"  I reaffirmed that she could handle it and to be careful.  She said, "Yeah, you're right, if I can run with scissors I can do this."  I had to let her know that running with scissors was not something she should ever do.  She said, "If they're closed it's okay right?"  No, not even closed.

Let's just say I'm like 18.

Peyton and I were driving and we had a small disagreement about something.  She said, "Let's just stop fighting and get along."  I agreed.  She then said, "I handled that! That's funny because I'm 5 and you're like 18."  I said that I was not 18, I was in fact quite a bit older than that.  She said, "Oh, yeah, you're like Grandma Kay's age."  Grandma Kay happens to be 85, I liked 18 much better.

Good thing she's not dead

This morning I thanked Peyton for reminding me to give her her antibiotics earlier.  She said, "It's a good thing I remembered, otherwise I'd be dead right now."

Not The Good Kind

Last night I was laying in bed with Peyton and she said, "Mommy, your breath smells like jelly beans."  I said, "Really?!"  She said, "Yes."  I said, "Thanks."  She then said, "Not the good kind, the black ones."

Rotten or Cooked?

While shopping with Peyton she asked what we were having for dinner.  I said, "Meatloaf, potatoes and broccoli."  She said, "Rotten or cooked?"  Then she corrected herself and said, "I mean, RAW or cooked!"

Reading the gospel

After church I was laying on my bed playing on my phone.  Peyton came in and said, "Mom, it's Sunday!  You shouldn't be on your phone, you should be reading the gospel!"
